Slept 10:00 to 6:30

May 08, 2003

Slept 10:00 to 6:30 or so, but it was fitful broken sleep. I put on warmer pajamas knowing that it would get cold later, and this meant that I was too warm for the first half of the night. Wanted to sleep more.

Breakfast was shredded wheat and 2 slices of germy bread. (1 cup bread flow, 1 cup sourdough, 1/2 cup ww flour, 1/2 cup wheat germ, 1/2 cup water, yeast, salt, go).

Spent the day working. The sprinkler crew were here most of the day - I forgot to grab my shower early and now I feel a lil slimy. Will probably skip it entirely since I don't have time to hit the gym before baby comes home.

Spent the morning writing, struggling in chapter 4 on the transition between Hodge's theory of the church and the Evangelical Alliance. I think the connection is through American involvment with European protestantism, but I am having trouble tying things together neatly. Using Wilbur Fisk, passing baton to Horace Bushnell, and going from Bushnell to the EA. I might want to put Bible societies in earlier.

Lunch was a mushroom omelette, 2 eggs, 2 mushrooms, 1 scallion, olive oil, 2 slices of germy bread. I then ate another hard boiled egg that I had cracked thinking it was a raw egg for my omelette. J later pointed out that the yolk could have gone to the baby and the white could have gone to the pets. too late now.

Spent the afternoon working on my BCC syllabus. Finished laying out chapters and writing homework questions, got about halfway through preparing documents for inclass use. I am mostly using classics, and we will be doing close readings of them in class. So John Winthrop's "Model of Christian Charity" - in the original spelling and grammar, a bit of Locke's Letter on religious Toleration, some George Washington on the revolution, Thomas Jefferson and the firebell in the night, and excerpts from Jackson's nullification proclamation.

I had sunsword forums up for most of the day, and took my study breaks by typing there. I asked them my question about whether AJ should be on the US currency, it sparked some discussion but less than I triggered when I went medieval on the Atkins diet. Sigh, too much time on boards.

I found two potential jobs, one in New Zealand that does not pay enough to cover the travel costs, and one at a county college about 75 minutes from our new house. I think I will apply to the local one. What the heck, we can always move again next year LOL.

We have a home inspection lined up for Tuesday morning, we have a termite inspection lined up for the same time. J has seen the deed to the house, it looks like the current owner is making a NICE profit by selling to us. He bought it at an estate sale, put some work into fixing it up, caught a rising market, and here we are.

Afternoon snack, large bowl of yoghurt with raisins, fried almonds, and crunchy cereal. The passover almonds have cottonseed oil, I worry about their fat profile. Almonds in general are very good, and these are tasty. I suspect I will finish the container.

I have the baby tonight, J is going to a hazmat class. I broke from work too late to hit the gym and still receive the baby. Would have run, but left achilles tendon is sore and I do NOT want to create another nagging injury like I have with my knees.

Hope to get a little grading done before they come home and again after baby goes to bed.

And so to work.
